Poker in Atlantic City

For 35 years, the World Series of Poker had been an all-Las Vegas affair, but in 2005, the road to poker's ultimate championship began in Atlantic City. In January, Harrah's Atlantic City hosted the premiere event of the 2005 circuit, a series of five poker tournaments. Your best bet for Atlantic City poker tournaments would be the Boardwalk and Marina area where a number of major casinos hold regular tournaments. The poker rooms below offer a variety of spreads and poker games including Texas Hold 'em , Seven Card Stud and Omaha. There are plenty of low limit poker games with Trump Taj Mahal and Borgata the place to go for most of the high stakes poker

Bally's Park Place Casino has a small eight-table poker room, mostly dealing low limit Texas Hold 'em and Seven Card Stud.

Borgata

The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa opened in July 2003 and is one of the more luxurious casinos in Atlantic City. The poker room hosts over 30 tables. Daily poker games include Texas Hold 'em, Seven Card Stud, and Omaha with spreads generally ranging from about $3/6 to $20/40.Larger spreads are often available in the high limit section. Borgata hosts a Texas Hold 'em poker tournament Monday to Friday, with buy-ins generally ranging from $20 to $200. Borgata is also host to the annual Borgata Poker Open in September. The poker tournament is part of the World Poker Tour.

Harrah’s Atlantic City has a poker room with five tables primarily offering low limit Seven Card Stud and Texas Hold'em. Harrahs is host to the World Series of Poker Tournament Circuit in January.

The Sands Casino has a small poker room on the fourth floor dealing Texas Hold 'em, Seven Card Stud, and Omaha with low limits. The Sands poker room hosts a Texas Hold 'em poker tournament every Friday and Saturday with a $35 registration fee.

The Tropicana poker room has 43 poker tables dealing Texas Hold 'em, Seven Card Stud, and Omaha, with the additional bonus of monitors showing sports events in the poker room. The Tropicana poker room has a Texas Hold 'em poker tournament every day of the week with buy-ins ranging from $20 to $50.

Trump Taj Mahal

One of the biggest and most popular in Atlantic City, the Trump Taj Mahal poker room has over 60 poker tables, dealing 7 Card Stud, Texas Hold 'em and Omaha. Most days you can also find Hi-Lo poker games for 7 Card Stud and Omaha 8 or Better. The Trump poker room also has one of the widest varieties of spreads with games beginning at $1 - $3 and $2 - $4 and often as high as $300 - $600 on the weekends. The poker room offers a daily poker tournament Monday through Friday (Omaha on Wednesday and Texas Hold 'em on the other days) with buy-ins ranging from $20 to $150. Trump Taj Mahal also hosts the annual Trump U.S. Poker Championship in September/October and the Trump Classic Poker Tournament in November/December. The poker room also offers free poker lessons.
